Sustained Excellence in Cadastral Surveying Award 2019
This is awarded to a Licensed Surveyor for sustained excellence in contributing to the integrity of the Cadastre in Victoria. Nominations for this award are made by a panel of experts in Cadastral Surveying and Land Registration from Land Use Victoria.
The criteria for this award is based on a history of high quality work in:
- survey audits
- survey plan examination
- Crown surveys.
At SSSI’s 2019 Asia Pacific Spatial Excellence Awards, Surveyor-General Craig Sandy was delighted to announce that Michael Wilson achieved the Sustained Excellence in Cadastral Surveying Award 2019.
Michael Wilson has been a vibrant leader in the Victorian – and Australian – surveying community for over 25 years. Committed to regional development, he has set new benchmarks for best practice in the quality of the surveys he has delivered, contributing to and championing the cadastre in Victoria.
Born in Kyabram Victoria, Michael grew up in Deniliquin and was educated there. A graduate of RMIT in 1985, with a Bachelor of Applied Science (Surveying), he commenced employment with Eric Salter Land Surveyors in Kilmore, Michael subsequently worked at Beveridge Williams & Co in Ballarat and was articled to Colin Abram LS. He obtained his registration as a licenced surveyor in 1995.
Michael managed the Ballarat office of Beveridge Williams for seven years before commencing his own practice. He operated North Central Land Surveying in Maryborough from 2006 until merging with TGM Group in 2018.
He is currently President of Consulting Surveyors Victoria, after joining the CSV board in 2010. He became Treasurer in February 2011, a role he held until becoming President in 2018. Michael is a member of the Institution of Surveyors Victoria, joining in 1995.
He is committed to supporting the next generation of surveyors, and successfully mentored and supervised Chris White to receive his registration as a licensed surveyor in 2018.
Michael is married with five children and resides in Learmonth.
